Richmond Tales: Lost Secrets of the Iron Triangle by Summer Brenner (2009)


Written by Summer Brenner and illustrated by Miguel Perez, Richmond Tales, Lost Secrets of the Iron Triangle, published in 2009, is the first in the series of site-specific, time-travel novels for young readers and their families. The book tells the story of Maisha and Mario, who live in the Iron Triangle district of Richmond. With the guidance of their mysterious companion, Misty Horn, they travel back into Richmond’s past and forward into Richmond’s future.

Summer Brenner won the city's Historic Preservation Award (2010) and the Human Rights Award (2013) for Richmond Tales and the book was selected for 2015 Read Across America by the California Teachers Association.
